Verbena Bonariensis flowers on tall wiry stems and can be planted with a variety of different perennials, including grasses. It has a long flowering season making it an ideal plant for low-maintenance gardens and herbaceous borders.
Verbena Bonariensis works well in a number of garden settings such as cottage and contemporary gardens due to its height and airy appearance. It's also beneficial for attracting wildlife, particularly butterflies.
For an alternative contemporary look grow it against a coloured rendered wall. It also works well in tropical plant schemes alongside cannas, bananas, ginger lilies and bamboos.
Plant in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun or light shade. Enrich the soil with well-rotted organic manure before planting and feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every two weeks during the growing period.
Cut back in Spring.
These are proven in the garden as tough long-lasting plants requiring little maintenance.
