Prunus Kiku-shidare-zakura Cheals Weeping Japanese Flowering Cherry Tree
The Japanese flowering cherries are a distinctive group of varieties stretching as far back as 1000 years. They are held in high regard in their homeland and are known as Sato-sakura meaning "village cherries"
Kiku-shidare-sakura, Cheals Weeping, is a very popular hardy small weeping tree with arching branches bearing densely clustered, double rose pink flowers. Lance-shaped leaves are pale green and slightly bronzed at first.
This is a small tree which will reach up to 4m after 10 years. It is tolerant of clay and chalk soil, any aspect and sheltered or exposed positions. These varieties prefer to be left alone and would not benefit from any regular or structured pruning.
This tree is sold in a 12 litre container and is 150-200cm.
Kiku-shidare-zakura, Japanese flowering cherry tree, has been awarded the Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit indicating that the cultivar has proved to be reliable in appropriate conditions and a good performer.
