Almost spineless, glossy dark green leaves on dark purple stems and bright red berries from autumn to winter.
This hardy English holly makes a handsome evergreen specimen tree for any garden with fertile, moist, well-drained soils including chalk and clay. Exposed or sheltered positions and any aspect.
The abundant fruits persist through the winter months, providing an excellent source of food for birds.
Excellent to mix in with other hedging plants to give a mixed hedge with some evergreen foilage.
Berries are mildly toxic and can cause stomach upset if ingested
