Clematis Macropetala Markham's Pink
This clematis cultivar is covered with plummy pink double flowers during April. These are followed later in the year by attractive whiskery seed-heads. Like all early-flowering clematis it requires little pruning other than the removal of any dead or damaged growth after flowering.
During summer and autumn the plant is adorned with decorative silky seed heads. A very hardy plant with low requirements.
Ideal for growing over fences, walls, or scrambling over rocks and old stumps.
Particularly useful for planting near small trees and coniferous or deciduous shrubs. Looks lovely against bright background, e.g. yellow leafed or yellow flowered plants.
Makes good ground cover.
Exposure: full sun, partial shade
Soil type: chalky/alkaline, clay/heavy, dry, well-drained/light
Flowering period: July to September
This plant is 3ft tall now in a 2.5 litre pot
