Centranthus Ruber Coccineus Valerian
Centranthus Ruber Coccineus Valerian flowers in summer producing deep red heads of small flowers with branched stems and smooth, grey green leaves. Height and spread 90cm x 60cm (30" x 24") This hardy plant self seeds readily, naturalizes well on old walls and also thrives in well-drained soil in sun. A good plant for a dry stony corner, it likes lime.
Plant in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun or light shade. Enrich the soil with well-rotted organic manure before planting and feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every two weeks during the growing period.
Cut back in Spring.
These are proven in the garden as tough, long-lasting plants requiring little maintenance.
Remove flowers to encourage foliage colour.
Use in containers (very good for winter tubs) or planted in beds or borders.
This plant is grown in a 2/3 litre pot.
