Excellent for hedging
Very dense small-leaved native evergreen, with dark green glossy, leathery leaves which give off an unusual sweet smell.
Small tufty yellow flowers appear from late winter. Slow growing and shade tolerant. Box has traditionally been used for topiary work.
Suitable for formal trimmed hedges. Trim August or September. For hedges 1-9ft (0.3-2.7m). Plant 9-15ins (23-38cm) apart.
Excellent in any position including dry or damp shade.
